MadCap Blaze™ – Your Frame Alternative
Blaze is the latest product under development from MadCap Software. Scheduled for release early 2007, Blaze will be the ideal solution for easily producing very long documents for print-such as books, manuals and illustrated guides-using the latest technological advances available. For years, authors have had to choose between ease of use (e.g., Microsoft® Word™) or the power to handle very large documents (e.g., Adobe® FrameMaker®). Now, with MadCap Blaze, authors have a complete package: ease of use, power to create long documents, flexibility, and an eye toward the future.

Features Include:
XML Foundation. MadCap Blaze features a unique patent-pending visual XML editor, fully driven by schemas and cascading style sheets (CSS). However, no knowledge of XML is required in order to use Blaze.
Importing. Bring in documents from products such as Microsoft Word and FrameMaker. Blaze ensures that content and settings such as cross-references, variables, and autonumbering formats are kept intact. There is no need to worry about losing any of your work.
Single Sourcing to Multiple Outputs. Quickly produce output for a single document in a variety of formats, such as: straight to the printer, Microsoft’s new “Metro” format, Adobe PDF, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word.
Unicode Support Author content in numerous languages, such as French, German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, and more.
CSS Support. Work smarter by using CSS when formatting content in Blaze. Creating, incorporating, and maintaining CSS files in Blaze is very easy and will save you hours of effort and time.
Conditional Text. Produce multiple versions of your content by using condition tags. For example, you can produce a beginner and advanced version of a manual without having to create two separate documents. Simply use condition tags in one document to indicate which content should be used in which manual.
Layouts. Create linked page layouts, which let you reuse content, graphics, headers, footers, multiple columns and page numbering throughout your documents. If you can dream it, you can probably do it in Blaze.
Variables and Snippets. Reuse content by creating pre-set terms (variables) and pre-set chunks of formatted content (snippets) and inserting them into various locations in your project.
Autonumbering. Incorporate customized automatic numbering in Blaze. Create numbered volumes, sections, paragraphs, and pages, which automatically change when you add or remove content.
Cross-References. Make full use of cross-references, which are “automated” links that let you connect one area of a document to another area.
Multiple Document Outlines. Quickly create and use as many different document outlines for as many different outputs or purposes as you want.
Powerful and Flexible Indexing System. Keep your document indexes current and consistent by using markers and the Index Explorer. Use Blaze’s Index Entry Mode to create index markers quickly.
Glossaries. Add professional glossaries to your documents. You can even automatically generate footnotes for your documents based on glossary terms and definitions.
