Automatic Bleeding Thumb Tabs
I use FrameMaker 6.0 and would appreciate some advice on this autonumbering situation.
Question:
I use FrameMaker 6.0 and would appreciate some advice on this autonumbering situation.
A consultant designed our template. The first template we received did not
have autonumbering styles because she insisted that autonumbering didn’t
work well with long documents, particularly if an autonumbered portion was
reused.
How do I use special characters or unicode character in a FrameMaker document?
Question:
I’ve encountered a problem that could send me crawling back to MS Word.
. . . I’m unable to display in Frame certain characters in certain
character sets. For example, I need to display the Latin 1 character g
with a cedilla in unshifted form. Using Character Map I’ve determined
that some fonts on my PC, such as Courier New, can display this
character. I then selected the character in Character Map and copied it
to the clipboard.
I am getting an error message that my document contains unavailable fonts, how do I fix this?

Is there a way to align text inside a text box to the vertical center?
You can do so in a table cell:
1) Create a new table with one column, one body row and no header or
footer column.
2) Make it as wide as the text box is supposed to be and set the minimum
row height to the desired height of the text box (Row Format command).
3) If desired, specify the border of the cell (text box) using the Table
Designer command.
How do you create a watermark in FrameMaker?
Answer:
#1:
I’m in Acrobat 4.0, so you may have to adjust this slightly for 5.0.
Open the PDF File in Acrobat.
Print… Make sure you select a PostScript Printer.
Click Properties.
Click Advanced…
Expand Document Options, then expand Printer Features.
Click Watermark and select Draft (or whatever is appropriate) from the
drop-down list.
How do I remove the blue border on my image maps?
I’m getting an ugly blue line around all of the image maps in my help
system. I can’t seem to find a css definition that requires editing. I’ve
searched on border, underline and changed the colors of my links, to no
avail.
I don’t see a setting in the template.hhp…
The only place I see a border setting is in BZImportGraphic, but I tried
setting it to 0 and I tried deleteing that line of the block altogether;
neither worked.
Does anyone know how to remove this border?
Answer:
You may need to look at the CSS (which might be in a separate file),
How do I print a pamphlet from FrameMaker?
Personally, I think that you are taking the wrong approach to this.
Effectively, you are trying to use FrameMaker as both a content creator
and a page imposition tool. FrameMaker is a great content creator and
aggregator. It is a lousy page imposition tool. And that is true of
programs such as Quark XPress, PageMaker, and InDesign as well.
Why does Windows 2000/XP Zapf Dingbats Display Incorrectly?
There is a known problem under Windows 2000 and Windows XP (all flavours) in
which characters chosen from the ITC Zapf Dingbats font, one of the “base
35″ PostScript Type 1 fonts, display in the TrueType WingDings font on the
screen, but print OK to PostScript printers and generate correct PDF files.
A similar problem occurs with Carta and any other Type 1 symbol fonts (other
than the actual font “Symbol”) that might be resident in the PostScript
printing device (as defined in the printer’s PPD file) and also installed on
an end-user’s computer system.
What is the best way to install FrameMaker and Acrobat?
STEP ONE (if necessary): Clean any older version Acrobat programs from
your system via the uninstaller.
