Production Editing Assistant

Assist Technical Editor with document production and editing tasks. Prefer experience working in a high-tech (semiconductor) technical publications environment. Exceptional graphics and page layout skills required. Be self-motivated and extremely detail-oriented. Have good command of written English and scientific terminology. Experience with project organization and data book development a plus. Have FrameMaker expertise, graphics and page layout skills. Be detail-oriented and have disciplined work habits. Individual must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, be curious and flexible as well as a willing team member. Illustrating, formatting, revising and proofing text and illustrations for data sheets, data book and other technical documentation. Maintaining document templates and working on multiple projects simultaneously, with commitment to all deadlines. Three years production experience with FrameMaker (including books and conditional text) under Microsoft XP OS. Must know Adobe FrameMaker 7.1, Acrobat Pro 6.0, Illustrator 10x and MS Office for MS XP. College degree, BA/BS

Technical Writer opening in Fairfax, Virginia

Responsibilities:
Write user manuals, training materials, systems lifecycle documents and project-management related documents for DOD projects. This is a staff writer position (for a defense contractor), dedicated on-site to one client located in Fair Lakes area. An excellent opportunity with a growing firm.
Candidate must have at least 5 years previous professional experience in technical writing and knowledge of DOD/military support services is required. Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Technical Communications, English or Journalism or related field. Position requires U.S. citizenship and a valid driver’s license. Candidate must have extensive knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and tools; strong technical writing and editing skills; and excellent mastery of the English language; excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint and in-depth knowledge of the use and application of Word styles, templates (.dot files), tables of contents and lists of figures, importing and placing outputs from other platforms into documents. Experience with Photoshop elements or other graphic design software is desired. Proficiency in creating graphic depictions from complex statistical data using Excel desirable. Candidate must have excellent time-management, organization and planning skills and demonstrated ability to meet ambitious deadlines and adjust to changing priorities and tight deadlines. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Certified FrameMaker Trainer Wanted

NCCI is currently looking for a certified FrameMaker trainer in the Cleveland, Ohio area to instruct one student over 2-3 days in a crash course on the software application. Technical support will also have to be provided for a brief period after the training is completed.
